| Hospital Foundation
Purpose The Lake Chelan Community Hospital Foundation was organized in 1982 and is operated exclusively for the charitable, scientific and educational purpose of providing and improving health care serviced at the Lake Chelan Community Hospital and its service area. It is incorporated and recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501C3 non-profit charitable organization. Contributions are tax deductible under their regulations.
Vision Statment The Foundation is dedicated to generating and managing donated funds to ensure healthcare facilities and services in which the community takes pride.
Organization The Board of Directors is made up of 15 Chelan Valley citizens dedicated to meeting the healthcare needs of the community. These men and women are community leaders who bring diversified interests and strengths to the boardroom.
Endownment Fund In 2002 an Endowment Fund was established by the Foundation for future capital improvements of the Lake Chelan Community Hospital. Initially, funds were provided by a generous donation of two town homes in area. In 2003, a bequest of cash was added. The goal is to accumulate a million dollars in this fund so that the earnings can be used for major needs of the hospital
Accomplishments
- 1992-1997 “Commitment to Caring” campaign raised funds to add a third floor to the existing hospital structure. Pledges, cash and in-kind donations totaling nearly a million dollars helped to finish this project!
- 1998 The first “Annual Giving” campaign raised $60,000, enabling additional Emergency Room equipment to be purchased.
- 2000 $40,000 in donations was used to purchase new sterilization equipment
- 2001 A three-year campaign was started to help raise funds to equip the Operating Room with a C-Arm Mobile Fluoroscopy X-Ray Unit and an Anesthesia Monitor. $17,000 was used to acquire the Anesthesia Monitor.
- 2002 Fund raising continues for the C-Arm X-Ray unit and for a Recovery Cardiac Monitor. Cost of the x-ray unit is nearly $200,000.
- 2003 The Annual Giving Campaign for 2003 – 2004 focused on raising funds to complete the hospital Teleradiology project, and to furnish new recovery rooms with essential equipment for monitoring patients.
Healthcare Educational Scholarships During the 1992 “Commitment to Caring” campaign, an anonymous donation was made to the Foundation for an Educational Scholarship Fund. In 1995, after the death of Mrs. Edna Bragg, this bequest was made public, and the proceeds from her will were added to the fund. Interest and dividends from the investments may be used for healthcare education for Chelan Valley residents and employees.
Almost $500,000 has been distributed for educational purposes since the Scholarship Fund was established. The Harold and Edna Bragg Scholarship Fund application are available by calling the Foundation office, (509) 682-6125 or emailing Foundation@lcch.net.
