Plastic Surgery

"Plastic surgery is the purest form of instant gratification in medicine," says Dr. Kenneth Jones, who is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and has practiced plastic surgery since 1988.

Dr. Jones decided to pursue plastic surgery when he saw how immediately a plastic surgeon could change a patient's outlook on life by correcting a deformity or reconstructing an injured body part.

Dr. Jones graduated from medical school in Chicago and completed a general surgery residency in Arizona. He also completed an additional three-year residency in plastic surgery and a one-year fellowship in Pediatric Craniofacial surgery in Chicago.

A history buff, Dr. Jones likes reading historical novels. He also enjoys downhill snow skiing and playing with his children.

Interested in Plastic Surgery?
Jones encourages people interested in plastic surgery to find a provider certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Many procedures can be done by non-certified specialists with less experience, he says, and the results can be less than satisfactory. He also suggests patients have procedures done in a hospital, because only certified practitioners have hospital privileges. "If the person is not going to do the procedure in a hospital, ask why," he said.

Health insurance covers many plastic surgery procedures. To make an appointment with Dr. Jones or get more information about plastic surgery procedures, call 667-2535 or 682-6111.

Plastic Surgery Procedures
Dr. Jones performs many plastic surgery procedures at Lake Chelan Community Hospital. These include, but are not limited to:

  • Repair and reconstructive work after trauma or skin cancer
  • Removal of moles or birthmarks
  • Botox injections
  • Eyelid surgery
  • Breast augmentation
  • Breast reduction
  • Liposuction
  • Laser Resurfacing

Laser Resurfacing
Laser resurfacing is performed using a beam of laser energy that vaporizes the upper layers of damaged skin. It:

  • Dramatically minimizes the appearance of fine lines on the face
  • Signigicantly reduces acne or other scarring
  • Allows a patient to "start over" with new, younger-looking skin
  • Has long-lasting results

During resurfacing, Dr. Jones carefully passes an activated laser back and forth over the skin, stripping away the outer layers of damaged skin until he reaches a level that will make the wrinkles or scars less visible. The patient will be under a general anesthetic during the procedure, which lasts about an hour.

As new cells form during the healing process, a smoother, tighter, younger-looking skin surface appears.  Dr. Jones will treat the skin, which will remain red or pinkish for several weeks, with protective lotions until healing is complete.

While laser resurfacing allows patients to literally "start over" with fresh, new skin, it is important for interested parties to first consult with Dr. Jones about the procedure. He will examine your skin to see if you are a good candidate for the procedure and explain the process and possible side effects in detail. To make an appointment, call 667-2535
